Thanks to my buddy over at BlenderNation, Eugene, I’ve got an updated Wordpress blog! It’s kind of shaming to admit but I’m not very familiar with Wordpress and with all of his experience on BlenderNation and his own site at Geneome he agreed to redo my entire site. That’s the reason for the messed up theme, then the ugly theme, and now this one which is the one I redesigned. Thank you very much Eugene!

Well, it’s about time I gave an update on my Linux journey through the awesome distrobution of Ubuntu. This is a wonderful piece of eye-candy and yet it remains as stable and powerful as Debian. My overall rating is a 8.5 out of 10.0 but here’s the rundown:

I was looking around for some new themes and came across Subtle by Glue Ideas and decided it would fit perfectly. Although it isn’t a custom template, it is a customized template. I added a blue header and changed out some icons for Blender’s sake. It’s has some really cool CSS and PHP hacks and supports the Widget Plugin. All in all I think I’ll keep it for a while. Be sure to give me some feedback about it! ;)

I had heard some discussion about this great Linux distro called Ubuntu, and so I wanted to give it a whirl and see what it was all about. I downloaded an Image CD to play around with it and was quite impressed. I decided to give it a chance and will be dual booting (got to keep WinBlows for gaming).

ID Studios is now official! I have finally purchase the ID Studios domain name. From now on I will be using www.idstudios.org as the official link and domain name system. Down with intellidesign and long live idstudios! I have renewed intellidesign.org and will probably not renew it when it expires in a year. So be advised that all links will be being redone to point to idstudios.org!

Today is the day! This new release is an impressive compilation of features that have been requested since the original release of iFileCMS back in April of 2006. I’ve spent about 32hrs of work rewriting the scripts from scratch and have finally made it available for PHP 4.0 (legacy version worked on PHP 5.0 only). This new version includes easy to use Themes, Extension Enable/Disable, Searching, and much more! Plus you can Register and Archive Projects! It’s been alot of work and if you check the new Documentation page you’ll find some things on the ToDo list.

Well, I had written a really nice long post discussing some features and then my WiFi quit and I lost the POST data. Ah well, here’s the jist. I finished alot of new features and there are still alot more to come. One of the features previewed below is the themes function which allows for a single stylesheet and a directory of images to be able to completely change the look and feel of the interface. With just a few special tags and some fancy selectors in the markup any CSS designer can simply replace just about any of the text with custom icons! It’s really quite cool!

Christian Storay is my “official” application tester for iFileCMS and we had a long GTalk chat about the options and features that could be developed for this application. We discussed everything from Automated Installs, to Enable/Disable Extensions, and got technical with security and even Project Archival functions!

It’s been a while since I got into the code and I couldn’t remember whether or not I had created a readme.txt file with the install. So, with the help of Christian Storay, another Blender enthusiast and member of Version 6 Studio, we created an update to the official iFileCMS download.

It has been a while and I’ve been exploring alternative roots for a more advanced blogging system. After hours of testing and theme integration I found Wordpress which was very easy to stylize. I was very glad that it uses CSS only themes and that there was no Perl what so ever! It uses a database but it is pretty efficient. I really love the administration section as it is an advanced WYSIWYG Editor and a great content management system. It’s more than just a blogger - I was impressed!
